rusthall church carol singers...

...brightened up the lounge today with their singing - a mixture of adults and children, male and female, came to mount ephraim and entertained our residents.

afterwards, we had mulled wine and mince pies courtesy of sheila and gemma in the kitchen, so thanks to everyone involved and happy christmas!

rotary club singers 2011

group photo of the lovely group from the twells rotary club who came to sing carols for mount ephraim on tuesday evening - getting everyone into the christmas spirit. residents had song sheets too and many joined in with the choir. a big thankyou to robin who organized everyone and to adam who managed to rustle up some delicious mince pies and a bottle of sherry!

christmas saxophone!

jacqui came to play her silver sax to the residents this week as part of the christmas celebrations, incorporating some carols into her repertoire. patty, eric and olive agreed to provide some backup but grace still prefers her knitting & eric was very engrossed by the look on his face!

look forward to seeing jacqui again in the new year...

music for health...

heather is from 'music for health' and aimed to get our residents into the christmas spirit
starting with the colourful party hats! soon everyone (or nearly everyone, grace preferred to keep knitting!) was making music, joining in with a music quiz and listening to a variety of music designed for residents well being, finishing with some breathing and relaxation techniques.

while the music therapy was in full swing, this is the work of hilda and 'new girl' June, who were encouraged to paint some christmas tree templates and add a 2012 calender to give as a gift..just waiting for the paint to dry.

iris, marie and marian had a go at filling glass baubles with some lovely glittery/feathery bits - and we put them on the christmas tree in the foyer for all to admire...

chocs away!

elizabeth and joan paid their last visit before xmas, bringing with them cards and gifts of chocs and special biscuits for residents to enjoy.

on behalf of all the residents and staff at meh, we wish them both a very happy, relaxing christmas and look forward to seeing them in 2012 for more anecdotes, poetry and gossip!




all weather studio...

 electricians put the finishing touches to the studio on friday and we now have heat and light so no excuse not to be creating masterpieces at any time! patty especially will be pleased!

front row at the fashion show...

Bonmarche of tonbridge put on a fashion show in the lounge - showing off some of their christmas collection, lots of sparkly bits and velvet ...

BINGO TODAY

bingo with our volunteer christiane -new resident Joyce first game and she won a prize this afternoon... she was joined by eric, doreen, patty, sylvia, marie, helen, susan, marian and olive.

meanwhile, peggy was being entertained by her family in the library, grace was knitting and sheila went out for a walk...

thomas the PAT dog came to see everyone this morning and we had our very own fashion show going on in the lounge - courtesy of bon marche... see photos above

a very glamorous bunch!...

... off to an award ceremony in Brighton this evening. stretch limo picked them up and wont be returning til after 1am this morning.. hope they all win... good luck!

patricia jacobs came to play piano for the residents today - a special recital in memory of robert green. thankyou patricia, everyone enjoyed it immensely and im sure robert would be chuffed to bits especially hearing his beloved murzurka's...

autumn/xmas fayre 2011

very successful xmas fayre today, big thankyou to everyone who contributed and helped -marie and marian manning the bric a brac stall, christiane and carolyn our volunteers for looking after the raffle and cake stall, generous donations from elizabeth and joan and allison etc sheila and di for making all the lovely stuff, heidi for dishing out the mulled wine, karen for bringing the cup cakes, and the residents and relatives who helped us to sell out!!

we held our two minutes silence today at MEH

Remembrance Day   observed in commonweath countries since the end of the first world war, to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the official end of World War I on that date in 1918; hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918 with the German signing of the Armastice.

burrswood for tea


a trip to Burrswood yesterday was arranged by our friends and volunteers from chartwell lodge - vivienne and joan kindly joined residents pat, lucille, susan, marie, helen,sheila, and patty for tea overlooking the beautiful grounds. a trip to the chapel and bookshop completed an enjoyable afternoon; many thanks to everyone involved especially hilary!

Patty had a lovely birthday today - a visit from her nephew, lunch out with friends, lots of cards and presents, hair done at the salon, an afternoon of crafting and a birthday cake at supper...
